Peter Stanton
Peter Stanton was born in England and raised in Newmarket.
He started dancing in 1960 and continued until 1975, when
he moved to London, England to further his studies. For
the next 7 years he toured Europe, Asia and Africa with
"Leon Grief Ballet Di Roma" and "Ballet Briac
De Paris". Upon returning to Canada in the mid 80-'s
he was an actor and singer and taught dance for Seneca College,
YMCA, YWCA, amongst others until starting his own school
in 1988. He is also in demand for teaching in the public
school system.
Like Mr Stanton, the teachers at the school bring a wealth
of stage performance, besides teaching credentials, the
senior ballet teacher is a former ballerina with "Les
Grandes Ballet Canadiens De Montreal". The teachers
credentials are with ; B.A.T.D (British Association of Teachers
of Dancing) & R.A.D (Royal Academy of Dance)
The school emphasizes dancing for the pure joy of dance
; the expression, creativity and freedom of movement. The
school also caters to students wishing to further their
understanding and technique through exams and competition.
Every year is a recital year with wonderful costumes and
special effects put together for a theme or story created
by Mr Stanton for the first half. The second half is a non-theme.
The school is very popular for its social ballroom course
taught by Mr Stanton and his wife, Annette Gravelle, these
are group classes or private. The classes are relaxed and
full of fun enjoyed immensely by all. Many come back again
and again. These classes are for the social crowd only.
The goal is to teach men how to hold and lead a woman,
and for women to follow. In the end, the couple will feel
comfortable enough to dance at any social function.
Singles are also welcome.
